Correspondence, reports, decrees, and a map relating to the establishment of a bishopric in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Manuscript number G254, dated 1792, consists of an unsigned formal petition to the King of Spain setting forth the need for the establishment of a bishopric in San Luis Potosí and requesting financial assistance for the same. Manuscript number G292, dated 1800-1805, contains letters which convey a cedula from the King of Spain ordering consideration of the establishment of the bishopric; letters and reports responding to the order; and a map of the proposed boundaries of the bishopric.
